It was an afternoon of fun! to design the fruit battery with the highest voltage!!

After much effort to squeeze juice out from the fruits, the groups have finally completed the project!

Girl power! Quantity didn't matter..

Team with aloof member. They have tried hard...

Biggest group from 303! They are a cool combination..

AND, our champions from 303!!! They went through 3 rounds of trials!! Outstanding effort!

Now, the groups from 302.. A happy team! Though they are only left with 2 people on the day of the competition, they fought well!

Cool team with steady progress!

The only team who used slices of fruits while the rest were squeezing away!

Little Snail

Guess who came and visit on Sunday morning? heee.. My mum came into my room in the morning with a bunch of vegetables in her hands. After carefully looking at the vegetables, I realised that there was a little snail happily feasting on the leaves.

My sister went to find a box to contain the snail and we started taking pictures of it. It looks cute! not gross at all.. not like a worm or anything along that line..

In the midst of the photo-taking, my mother brings in a bunch of leaves for us to put into the box. I asked "Are we keeping the snail?" I thought she wanted to feed it and keep it as pet!! Oh well, she was just worried that the snail would have nothing to eat when we release it into the garden.. (as if the garden has no greens)

Day 2 was basically the high and low elements within Yishun Safra itself. Here's me trying out abseiling.. The height is pretty scary and I guess that the most frightening part is when the trainer instructs you to swing out into the open.. thereafter, the journey down is FUN!

Alright, I am going to take you all on a journey! For those who check this blog frequently would have to adjust as I am going to post backwards. Day 2 Part 2 first then part 1 then Day 1.. haaa.. Here's a little task to get group members across the wall..

Aidi was the first to attempt the climb, assisted by all his friends..
Some had to suffer great pain to accomplish the task.. However, aidi faced difficulty and they decided to let Suhaid try..

The sweet taste of success! The first to be up over the wall!

And they try getting Dylan up...

Rock climbing was next! Guess who is this? haa.. its Tom!

Miss Ang gives it a try too! Tiring to stretch...

Not very high but it was scary already.. I stopped there.. didn't manage to complete it..

Next up, Canopy Walk! Its scary and high.. was mentally preparing myself then...

They told me I couldn't attempt it due to time constraint!!! So upset that I had to remove the harness without even trying!

Teachers decided to attempt the see-saw too.. success!

It's 2010!

Almost all my classes are new to me this year! Much to do on the very first week of school..

O's results would be released on Mon, 11th Jan 2010.. My gosh, it gets earlier every year.. Praying for my form class '09.. They will do well!

The whole school would be involved in camps next week. I would have loads of photos to upload thereafter. As for now.. its just working and planning!

Changes in Sentosa

I've not been to Sentosa for a very long time and I realised that Sentosa has changed so much.. With Universal Studios and the IR on our way, the little island has changed tremendously!

I love the designs! it gives Sentosa a feel of Australia, I can almost convince myself that I am not in Singapore!

These are the best! Artificial waves and you can do the sport at night! For a price of about S$30- S$40, you can enjoy these sports for an hour..

However, I was pretty much troubled by the amount of electricity used to generate the waves and how much wastage of energy is incurred for people to enjoy.. No wonder the earth is dying..

Time to say goodbye to the fantasy land! Love the christmas lights along these staircase!

In view of the coming examinations, here's some study tips for you!

Effective Study skills are about more than understanding

Effective study skills must be practiced in order for you to improve. It is not enough to simply "think about" studying; you have to actually do it, and in the process use information from what you do to get better. This is the central idea of this page.

"Practice doesn't make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect." If you want to be an achiever, take this saying to heart.

The value of a schedule

If you don't have a schedule or plan for studying, then you will not have any way of allocating your valuable time when the unexpected comes up. A good, well thought out schedule can be a lifesaver.

It's up to you to learn how develop a schedule that meets your needs, revise it if necessary, and most important, follow it.

All schedules should be made with the idea that they can be revised.

A good schedule keeps you from wandering off course. A good schedule, if properly managed, assigns time where time is needed, but you've got to want to do it!

Thinking skills

Everybody has thinking skills, but few use them effectively. Effective thinking skills cannot be studied, but must be built up over a period of time.

Good thinkers see possibilities where others see only dead-ends. If you're not a good thinker, start now by developing habits that make you ask yourself questions as you read. Talk to other students who you feel are good thinkers. Ask them what it is they do when they think critically or creatively.

Taking Notes

Like reading, note-taking is a skill which must be learned and refined.

Learning the ingredients of good note taking is rather easy; applying them to your own situation depends on how serious you are in becoming a successful student.

Study Habits

Tip: Begin study no less than 30-90 minutes after a meal.

Tip: Never study within 30 minutes of going to sleep.

Tip: Prioritize! Make a list of what you intend to study, prioritize the list, and stick to it!

Tip: If possible, study no more than 30-40 minutes at a stretch. Many students retain more by studying for short periods with breaks in between. It all depends on what you're trying to study, but generally, after a period of study, take a break.

Tip: Take study breaks away from your desk or wherever you are studying. Let the break be a time to think about other things. Use some break time to reflect, not constantly review what you have just studied.

Swine Influenza

What?
Swine influenza (also swine flu) refers to influenza caused by any virus of the family Orthomyxoviridae that is endemic to pig populations.

Symptoms?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have stated that the symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of other strains of human flu, including fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A few patients have reported that they also suffered from diarrhea and vomiting.

Damage done so far..
The virus emerged more than a month ago in Mexico, where the suspected death toll stands at more than 100, but only a fraction of these cases have been confirmed by lab tests. Mexican health officials do not have a clear idea how many people are infected more mildly, making it almost impossible to gauge how lethal the virus is.

There is no clear explanation of why the virus has killed only in Mexico. There is a chance that those who died already had other infections, or simply received worse healthcare. It is also possible that the virus was more virulent when it emerged, and has now mutated into a more transmissible, but less potent, strain.

Precautionary Measures
Recommendations to prevent infection by the virus consist of the standard personal precautions against influenza.

This includes frequent washing of hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, especially after being out in-public. People should avoid touching their mouth, nose or eyes with their hands unless they've washed their hands. If people do cough, they should either cough into a tissue and throw it in the garbage immediately, cough into their elbow, or, if they cough in their hand, they should wash their hands immediately.

Anyone one fish before?? Here's what my friends and I caught!

This is no fish.. its a coral.. it was still alive when we caught it.. Unfortunately it was injured..

Trip to e Farm

I went to an ostrich farm during the march holidays and these are some pictures from the trip. Enjoy!!!

Look at this male ostrich. It is a male because it has blacker feathers and a red beak. It's limbs have slight red-colouration too.

This is a female ostrich. It's feathers are not as dark and it has no red colouration.

Very often, the male species of the animal kingdom are very fortunate. One male to a whole team of female. They get to choose their female partners but the females usually do not have the privilege to choose their partners. How sad.. Fortunately, I'm a homo sapien!!! I can choose my male partner.. haaa!

As I was taking photos with the feathery creatures, a violent one came and attempted to attack me. It caused my finger to bleed. No worries, no serious injuries. Thank God it was enclosed in a cage!!!

It's finally the holidays for me! After all the remedial and after lessons, i really just want to go somewhere that looks like the above pictures.. Where I can just jump into a clear blue sea and soak for an afternoon!

Memories of 405 at Semakau!

It was an incredible journey learning about how our refuse is being disposed of! A very long day but a very informative one as well... It was also good bonding time with my form class..

Each and everyone of us play a role to conserve our environment.. Going on the trip and triggered many environmental thoughts... The things I am taking granted of.. the amount of refuse I dispose and contribute the problem of getting rid of them..

Hope that this trip has not only been a break for my students but also a wake up call to our existing environmental problems!

Wild Hornbill

Do you all know this bird? Yea, it's the bird you see in the zoo or bird park and not anywhere else.. Today, I actually saw a wild hornbill at Changi Village!

It didn't look as pretty as the ones you usually see in the zoo but I think it was feeding its young! It was bringing food to a little hole in a tree and I saw movements coming from the hole. So.. it could be breeding at SG's Changi Village.. quite cool!

This is my class' mascot! a relative of harry potter.. Well, I truly felt 401's mascot deserved to be the winner!! Pity I didn't get a nice picture of the mascot.

Solid Oxygen??

Yesterday, during my chemistry lesson with 305, students were puzzled how does a solid boils..

Most matter exists in three states.. thus the solid can melt to become liquid and later boil to gas.. For example, oxygen is commonly known to us as a gas.. it CAN exist in solid and liquid form as well :)
